Mandatory e-Prescribing in Kansas

Kansas House Bill 2119 mandates that all controlled substance prescriptions be prescribed electronically. The bill goes into detail about what must be included in the prescription upon being sent to the pharmacy and requires prescribers to complete additional continuing education.  Beginning July 1, 2021, pharmacists and prescribers (other than a veterinarian) will be required to check the patient’s PMP history before dispensing or prescribing opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or carisoprodol.

Kansas Controlled Substances Prescription Monitoring:

Prescribers and dispensers are required to consult the Kansas PMP AwareRxe prior to prescribing or dispensing a controlled substance other than certain Schedule V drugs.

iCoreRx offers the ability to integrate with Kansas PMP AwareRxe to streamline the process of checking the PMP during the prescribing workflow. Through this integration, prescribers can go directly to the patient's PMP report without having to log in to the PMP and search for the patient. Contact us for more information or fill out the trial request form above to get started today.
