Meet State of Tennessee Requirements and Start e-Prescribing Today!

tennessee ePrescription Mandate

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam recently authorized SB0810 into regulation. This Act mandates Tennessee doctors to electronically prescribe all controlled substances with an effective date of January 1st, 2021. Tennessee recently passed HB1993 which mandated EPCS for Schedule II drugs by January 1st, 2020. This most recent Act makes a number of modifications to the previous regulation:

The brand-new Act replaces Schedule II drugs with Schedule II-V. Currently, all controlled substances are required to be electronically prescribed. The mandatory date for prescribers to comply with the mandate has actually been postponed to January 1st, 2021 from January 1st, 2020.

Mandatory e-Prescribing in Tennessee

Tennessee House Bill 1993 mandates that all controlled substance prescriptions be prescribed electronically. The bill goes into detail about what must be included in the prescription upon being sent to the pharmacy and requires prescribers to complete additional continuing education.  Beginning January 1, 2021, pharmacists and prescribers (other than a veterinarian) will be required to check the patient’s PMP history before dispensing or prescribing opioids, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, or carisoprodol.

iCoreRx offers the ability to integrate with Texas PMP AwareRxe to streamline the process of checking the PMP during the prescribing workflow. Through this integration, prescribers can go directly to the patient's PMP report without having to log in to the PMP and search for the patient. Contact us for more information or fill out the trial request form above to get started today.
